Botallack Crown Mines
Perched on the very edge of the cliff and short walk along the cliffs from the Levant Mine and Beam Engine the Botallack Crown Mines are a spectacular sight.
The video above gives an outstanding view of the area. The Botallack Crown Mines are further down the cliffs The two engine houses are on the very edge of the drop. The mine workings are remarkable in that one shaft is 250 fathoms, (approx 500 metres) below sea level and the workings travel out 400 metres under the sea from the cliff face on which the engine house sits.
There are remains of the mines arsenic works on the Clifftop. The mines and the area were used in the original BBC series Poldark.
