Whipsiderry Beach – Dog friendly beach Great for explorers

Whipsiderry Beach by Robert Pittman

Whipsiderry Beach

Whipsiderry Beach

Steep steps to reach the beach. At low tide as there is lots to explore; caves, rock pools and dry sand for sheltered sunbathing if the wind is blowing offshore. Whipsiderry Beach is a ten-minute drive from Newquay centre but there is limited parking on-site, there are no lifeguards and dogs are allowed all year round.

The caves are a popular attraction the best known of which is the Cathedral Cavern.  It is said that at one time Marble was quarried here.

Other caves to explore are the great Banqueting Hall,  Boulder Cavern and the Fern Cavern.  Recently the Beach was voted in the top 20 of Europe’s Best Beaches.  There are no facilities at the beach itself. Neighbouring Porth beach however has a good range of amenities.

You can find details of the  South West Coast path and the walk from Trevelgue Head to the beach.
