Storm watching Trebarwith Strand

This video (Storm watching Trebarwith Strand) illustrates the result of a combination of Spring Tides and 65 MPH winds.

The strong winds off the Atlantic Ocean help make the beach at Tebarwith Strand a good surfing beach. The state of the tide has a major impact on the beach here – as the tide rises the sands and beach quickly disappear under the incoming sea. At high tide, all that is left of the beach are the rocks at the cliff base.

Visitors can be cut off by the rising waters and incoming tide so if walking and spending the day awareness of tide times is essential.. There is a lifeguard service provided by Tintagel Surf Lifesaving Club.

When the tide is at its lowest the sea recedes is 300 yards from the cliff vase and the sands stretch for half a mile. It is a beautiful area being some 2.5 miles south of Tintagel and a walk on the beach as the tide recedes or low water is a wonderful experience.

This video illustrates the transformation that takes place in winter when a fierce storm when high tides batter the coast of North Cornwall.
