Cardinham contains over 250 hectares of mixed woodland ideal for walking, cycling and horse-riding. With four waymarked trails and miles of other tracks and paths that weave their way through the scenic woodland, the woods offer plenty of opportunities to explore.
At Cardinham Woods there is a car park and an all-ability trail together with a woodland cafe that provides excellent refreshments. A new woodland play area has just opened too, offering a great day out for all the family.
Cardinham is also a wildlife refuge for deer, buzzards, otters and even kingfishers.
As you explore, look out for buzzards circling high above the treetops, dippers and kingfishers by the river and deep in the woods listening for the rustle of deer.
After a busy day exploring the wood, you can relax in the picnic area by the river or use one of the BBQs which are free to use.
Woods cafe offers delicious homemade cakes, cream teas and light lunches. Dogs are welcome at Cardinham but please clean up after them and keep them under close control in the main visitor areas.
For more details please visit www.forestry.gov.uk or pick up a free events guide at the Woods cafe.
