Chapel Porth Wheal Coates Engine House

A short video (Chapel Porth Wheal Coates Engine House) was taken during a walk from the National Trust car park at Chapel Porth along the coast path towards St Agnes as far as the Wheal Coates engine house.

You can see the water vapour caught in the sunlight as it is forced up through the grid from the mine shaft that rises from hundreds of feet below. This happens at high tide and the right wind conditions.

The views up and down the coast from here are spectacular. This was filmed at high tide when it is low water a large expanse of sands are uncovered allowing walkers to stroll along the sands and explore the caves in the cliffs below. Do NOT do this without being aware of tide times as it is possible to get caught out and cut off with the incoming tide. If you are visiting during the season the Lifeguards will tell you and will have tide times up on a blackboard.
