This film talks to Keith Murch, Harbour Master of one of Cornwall most iconic places, St Michaels Mount. He talks about how Cornwall has made him feel, and the differences between life in a city and life in Cornwall.
St Michael’s Mount is truly unique as one of England’s most famous and dramatic coastal attractions. An enchanting medieval castle and church perched upon a craggy island in Mounts Bay in Cornwall.
The harbourside village at St Michaels Mount has been home to an island community for centuries. Although the harbour is now predominantly used by pleasure boats, the village still houses a number of people whose lives are inextricably linked to the island. The gardener’s guides, boatmen and staff who work on the Island live in cottages built around the small harbour.
St Aubyn family occupy the castle and take an integral role in all ongoing work to maintain the island with the National Trust to preserve the history, architecture and natural beauty of St Michael’s Mount.
Access to the island and castles is by means of a boat or the causeway when the tide permits. Access is dependent on the weather conditions
A film by Denzil Monk.
