Portreath Coastal Path

Portreath North West Cornwall: Set in a valley set between high cliffs and with a secluded, sandy beach. The beach is popular with surfers.The North cliffs, with have views to Godrevy Lighthouse and St Ives are particularly attractive.

Portreath’s historical harbour originated in 1760 as an exporter for the Cornwall Mining industry. Taking ore out and bringing back coal to fire the steam engine furnaces for the mines.

Portreath is one end of the Coast to Coast cycle path which follows in the main disused mineral tramways. The cycle path stretches from Devoran on the south coast which was once a major port for the exporting of ore and the delivery of coal to fuel the mining engines to Portreath. Bicycle hire is possible at several places.
