Looe to Fowey in Sailing Lugger

This clip Looe to Fowey in Sailing Lugger is almost over 20 years old and was originally filmed on an early VHS cam corder. “Deu Kerens” ran trips from Looe during the summer from to Fowey. Mike and Sue Darington who owned Deu Kerens at the time also chartered the boat for trips to France and the Scilly Isles.

The boats name is Cornish meaning two friends. It was called the Dos Amigos (two friends in Spanish) so named after two friends from Spain who settled in St Ives following the civil war in Spain bought the boast and used is a fishing boat.

After a trip up river to view the Docks at Par and marvel at the size of ships that came to load China Clay she would moor on a visitors buoy opposite the main up opposite Fowey for lunch and passengers would enjoy a pasty and tea.
