St Ives is always a popular destination for visitors to Cornwall. St Ives in October: like the rest of Cornwall out of the main season has a unique feel and atmosphere. The winter storms can give way to beautiful sunny mild days which are ideal for walking.
The surfers during the winter tend to be local or experienced visitors and the waves and experience can be thrilling but as the seasonal lifeguard service ends around September/ October great care needs to be exercised. Porthmeor Beach in St Ives is overlooked by the Tate St Ives Gallery which was opened in 1993 as well as Porthmeor Studios the famous artist studios.
