Dolphins between Padstow and Newquay – a thrilling encounter

Dolphins between Padstow and Newquay

This video was taken during a delivery trip of the former RNLI Penlee lifeboat the W & S from Belfast to Falmouth. The W & S was being brought to Falmouth by members of the Historic Lifeboat Owners Association.

It is not at all unusual to see Dolphins between Padstow and Newquay in fact they are a fairly common sight all along the coast of Cornwall.

A rally of historic Lifeboats is an annual event in Fowey with boats attending from all over the UK.

Having left Padstow and making passage to Newlyn for their next stop the boat was surrounded by a large pod of Dolphins who played around in the bow wave and around the boat for about 20 mins then left as suddenly as they had appeared.

Dolphins are frequently seen around the coast of Cornwall.
