Martin Clunes at Port Isaac – Fascinating to watch work in progress

We found Martin Clunes at Port Isaac filming what I think was series 4 of the Doc Martin.  We arrived when they were taking a short break from filming and Martin Clunes was talking to the crowd and meeting visitors dogs!  It was a very windy day in 2011.

Martin Clunes at Port Isaac

A small fishing village that doubles as Port Wenn in the Doc Martin TV series. Situated on the north Atlantic coast of Cornwall it has become famous around the world due to its association with the TV series. The village has a Lifeboat Station. It is also home the sea shanty singing group Fishermans Friends.

As well as the currently popular Doc Martin it has also been the backdrop to scenes in the original Poldark TV series, The Shell Seekers and the film “Saving Grace” which was the first time we saw Martin Clunes at Port Isaac portraying the character of Doctor Martin Bamford that became Doc Martin.

About Doc Martin

Doc Martin won the British Comedy Award for “Best TV Comedy Drama” in 2004. Also in 2004, Martin Clunes won the “Best TV Comedy Actor” award, based on his work on the series. We are now on Series 9. The show has been adapted by TV companies around the world creating local shows based on the show. France, Germany. Greece, Spain and the Netherlands all have TV shows based on the brilliant socially inept character of Doc Martin. ITV official site for Doc Martin is here.
