The Banjo pier so named after its shape was one if the first to be ever built in this shape and is certainly the most well known. It was built by a local enginer Joseph Thomas who designed it is this fashion to prevent the silting up of the harbour entrance.
Looe is very popular holiday destination as well as very busy fishing port where the harbour dries out at low water.
