The St Ives school Artists : A film made by the Cornwall Tourist Board to illustrate the artistic community that has existed in St Ives for many years. Drawn by the quality of the light, the seascapes and landscape of Cornwall St Ives is still a thriving artistic community.
The sculptress Barbara Hepworth is one of the more famous artists who lived and worked in St Ives alongside her husband the artist Ben Nicholson. A museum and garden (managed by Tate St Ives) that shows her studio and tools, a garden laid out by the artist herself displays some of her works is open to the public.
Today in St Ives their remains a thriving artistic community the work can be seen in the galleries and studios in the town.
The Tate St Ives opened in 1993 in a prominent position overlooking overlooking Porthmeor beach.
