On the Clay Trail Bodmin-Truro
The Clay Trail Bodmin-Truro is part of The Cornish Way which offers over 200 miles of linked trails across the county. The trails link to a network of cycle routes covering the UK, known as The National Cycle Network.
Bodmin Moor itself was home to the industrial mining for tin and copper. Copper and tin mining was active from the bronze age bronze age finally petering out in the early 20th century. The China Clay workings and pits are all now closed the industry itself now concentrated nr St Austell with China Clay being shipped all over world from the port of Fowey.
This organisation is co-ordinated by Sustrans, the UK’s leading sustainable transport charity, which works with the support of over 450 local authorities and other groups.
