Truro City of Lights
The Truro City of Lights Festival is an annual event firmly embedded in Truro’s calendar since 1996. The City of Lights parade takes place each year thanks to the strong partnership of organisations, schools, community groups and individual artists. This partnership creates something far more than the sum of its parts. Generous support from the business community is major factor in keeping the parade possible.
Each November thousands of people line the city streets of Truro to witness this favourite pre-Christmas celebration. Forming the heart of the procession are beautiful giant character lanterns made from withy and tissue. This along with hundreds of smaller children’s lanterns, built by schools, community and professional artists around the specially-chosen theme, along with samba dancers in spectacular costumes make for a great fun evening for all.
City of Lights is a feast of music and dance including samba, brass bands and pipes & drums.
