Truro City of Lights Festival

An annual event firmly embedded in Truro’s calendar since 1996, City of Lights takes place each year thanks to a strong partnership of organisations, schools, community groups and individual artists that creates something far more than the sum of its parts, and thanks to the generous and vital support from community & businesses.

Each November thousands of people line the city streets to witness this favourite pre-Christmas celebration. Forming the heart of the procession are beautiful giant character lanterns made from withy and tissue, along with hundreds of smaller children’s lanterns, built by schools, community and professional artists around the specially-chosen theme, along with samba dancers in spectacular costumes.
