Polzeath's sandy beach and is popular with visitors and surfers. The beach is almost 1,500 feet long At low water a great expanse of sand is exposed and conversely at high tide almost all of the beach is flooded. RNLI lifeguards are on duty during the season.
Dolphins visit the bay and the area is popular with bird watchers.
The late poet laureate, Sir John Betjeman celebrated Polzeath in some of his work. .He died in nearby Trebetherick on 19 May, 1984 and is buried in the graveyard at St Endoc Church.
