The coast path leading to Maenporth beach that starts above Swanpool beach. Spectacular views along the coast to St Anthony Lighthouse , Pendennis and the beaches in Falmouth in one direction and to the Lizard in the other.

There is a nature reserve at Swanpool centred on the lagoon.

Over a hundred bird species have been observed at Swanpool. Mallard ducks are residents but moorhen, coot and little grebe are regular visitors.

A small flock of tufted ducks visits the pool in winter for several months.
