Lusty Glaze Beach Newquay A popular family beach

Lusty Glaze Beach – Newquay

Lusty Glaze beach is one of the smallest of Newquay’s main beaches, well sheltered by surrounding high cliffs. Bathing huts on the beach. Popular with families. Surfing, rockpools, beach activities, parking, good food.  Lusty Glaze is a private beach and the owners have the right to close the beach when private functions are being held.  It is a popular venue for private celebrations and weddings.

It is possible to book surfing lessons run by the surf school and it is popular among beginner surfers with competitions being held there. The beach offers good surfing in the right conditions. The best waves can be surfed at low to mid tide. There is an annual night surf competition at the beach and in 2008 forms part of the UK Pro Surf Tour.

Lusty Glaze adventure centre provides activities such as climbing and abseiling, bungee jumping, surfing and other watersports offered.

Located at the northern end of Newquay Bay Lusty Glaze joins up with the adjoining Tolcarne beach at lower tides and can be accessed this way. Otherwise, access is via a steep path consisting of over 300 steps from the clifftop.  The beach is very family-oriented with facilities including a creche.

  • Reached either by walking along the sands northward from the town centre or from a path on the clifftop.
  • Refreshments at the Lusty Glaze Restaurant.
  • Toilets & showers.
  • Lifeguards & sea sports training available.
  • Seasonal dog ban (Easter Day – 1st October)

RNLI Lifeguards operate on the beach.
