Over 100,000 people lined the headlands and vantage points to see the  Tall Ships leaving Falmouth on Saturday 13 September 2008.

The ships headed to Ilhavo, then on to Funchal.

The ships attracted well over 100,000 people during their stay.  For anyone who was out on the boats accompanying the ships it seemed like every boats that could float was out there with us. 

The BBC estimates that over 100 small boats followed the Tall ships to the start line some 3 miles offshore.  The video captures the atmosphere of the occasion and for anyone who witnessed it the site of the Crew dancing and singing the Macarana on the deck of the Mexican Tall ship Cuauhtémoc is something that will not be forgotte.  The Falmouth Lifeboat web site is here
