Chapel Porth National Trust.

A National Trust beach which at low ride allows you to walk along the beach under towering cliffs and the famous Wheal Coates engine house. Walking the Chapel Porth beach is perfectly safe but do NOT set out without knowing the tides as they do come back in quickly! A popular surfing beach with Lifeguards during the season.

The coast path and the beach at Chapel Porth is maintained by the National Trust in Cornwall.

Chapel Porth Beach

Large expanse of sand at low tide, only rocks at high. Rock pools and caves to explore. National Trust car park and beach cafe serving legendary 'hedgehog' ice creams - cornish ice cream, covered in clotted cream and topped with crushed hazlenuts, scrumptious!

Hot and cold drinks and good food also available. The ruins of the old Wheal Coates tin min look down from the high cliffs, and the walk from here around St Agnes give stunning views.

Limited parking, with a steep drive down a narrow road to the car park. Rocks and pebbles to walk across to get to the sand.

The Cornwall Coast Path near St Agnes - Chapel Porth to Wheal Coastes Engine House

A short video of taken during a walk from the National Trust car park at Chapel Porth along the coast path towards St Agnes as far as the Wheal Coates engine house.

You can see the water vapour caught in the sunlight as it is forced up through the grid from the mine shaft that rises from hundreds of feet below. This happens at high tide and the right wind conditions.
