High accolade for bravery awarded to RNLI lifeguard
The Royal National Lifeboat Institution is to present a special award to lifeguard Marcus Lascelles (aged 21) after he rescued a bodyboarder from serious difficulty in dangerous seas at Porthtowan beach in Cornwall on Saturday 10 September 2011.
The Thanks of the Institution Inscribed on Vellum, the fourth highest award given by the charity after the gold, silver and bronze medals for gallantry, is to be awarded to Marcus in recognition of his bravery performing the rescue in huge surf and strong winds...
